Reduce Chronic Pain & Tension by Bringing Your Body Into Alignment at Breathe.

Posture imbalances contribute to a wide range of problems like muscle stiffness, persistent joint pain, and sleep issues. Ready to manage your pain, find relief, and enjoy a pain-free life? The physical therapists at Breathe. are ready to help you!

What Causes Posture Issues?

Posture-related problems affect many people, and small changes in the way you move and position your body can have large effects. You may not know that posture is contributing to your pain when you first come to Breathe. That’s why our physical therapists listen to your issues and take posture into account as part of our holistic approach.

Your posture is more than just sitting up straight! Posture includes both static posture (how you sit or stand when you’re not moving) and dynamic posture (how you carry yourself when you are moving).

Issues could stem from:

  • An uncomfortable work-from-home setup
  • Unbalanced walking and/or standing posture
  • Repetitive movements at work, home, or with childcare
  • Changes in your body during pregnancy
  • Aches and pains from carrying around your small children

All of these — and more — can affect your skeletal system and your muscles over time.

Posture & Gait Assessment

As part of our initial assessment, we’ll evaluate your static and dynamic posture to see what areas could be contributing to your issues. This will help us identify any imbalances or negative patterns and create a focused plan to help you improve your posture.

Therapeutic Exercises & Stretches

Whether it’s standing breaks at work or exercises throughout the day, we’ll help you figure out the right practices to keep your posture in good shape. This will help relieve strain on your muscles and joints to keep them from becoming tense and stiff.

Frequently Asked Questions About Body Posture

What Are Some Simple Ways to Improve My Posture at Work & at Home?

There are many that we recommend! If you work at a desk, it’s important to keep the top of your screen close to eye level and sit so you’re not slouching forward, which can strain your neck. Position your keyboard so that your shoulders can stay relaxed. Taking standing breaks can also help restore blood flow and ease muscle tension. Here are some more exercises to improve your posture.

How Long Does It Take to Correct My Posture?

By putting healthy posture routines into practice, you’ll likely begin to see positive changes within a few weeks. Depending on the goals for improving posture, we work with clients for durations ranging from a few weeks to a year or more.

Is Posture Therapy Covered by Insurance?

If posture is contributing to pain or problems, it will be covered by insurance. If cost is an issue and your goal is to simply improve posture to prevent future problems or to look more confident, we can work with you for two to four visits to put together a solid plan for you to work on at home.
